MEMBINA MINI KAMPUNG

The Kampung House is an important part of Singapore’s treasured heritage. Life in a kampung was mostly harmonious  and the people readily offer their neighbours food, help and support.
 

In this program we wanted to introduce them the basic structure of the kampung house so that our history will not be vanished and let our students appreciate the origins of our homes.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will be getting to bring back the product.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation of Rumah Kampung.

  • Demonstration by trainer.

  • Hands-on assembling of Mini Kampung House.

  • Notes will be given

     

     

 

Duration: 1.5- 2 hours

Venue: Classroom

GASING COLOURING/PAINTING

Gasing Colouring/Painting is a programme whereby students get to learn more about Gasing history and have a hands-on activity in colouring or painting the plain gasing based on their creativity or preference.

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will be getting to bring back the product.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction about Gasing.

  • Samples of coloured/painted Gasing for students to refer and get inspiration.

  • Hands-on colouring/painting of Gasing.

  • Design template will be given. Students can choose to follow or do up their own design.

     

 

Duration: 1.5 hours

Venue: Classroom

WAU DECOR (not available at the moment)

Wau Decor is a programme whereby students get to learn how to assemble the Wau Decor with items from our Wau Decor Kit.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will be getting to bring back the product.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation of Wau Decor.

  • Demonstration by trainer.

  • Hands-on assembling of Wau Decor.

  • Notes will be given

     

     

 

Duration: 1.5- 2 hours

Venue: Classroom

CLAY MAKING

Clay Making is a programme whereby students get to learn how to mold

and paint their clays with items from our Clay Making Kit.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will be getting to bring back the product.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation of Clay Making.

  • Demonstration by trainer.

  • Hands-on practice of Clay Making

  • Notes will be given

     

     

 

Duration: 1.5- 2 hours

Venue: Classroom

WAU SOBEK

Wau Sobek is a programme whereby students get to learn how to assemble the Wau Sobek with items from our Wau Sobek Kit.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will be getting to bring back the product.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation of Wau Sobek.

  • Demonstration by trainer.

  • Hands-on practice of Wau Sobek

  • Notes will be given

     

     

 

Duration: 1 - 1.5 hours

Venue: Classroom

COASTER/BASKET WEAVING

Coaster/Basket Weaving is a programme whereby students get to learn the proper way of weaving a coaster/basket.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will be getting to bring back the product.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation of Rattan Weaving.

  • Demonstration by trainer.

  • Hands-on practice of weaving either coaster/basket.

  • Notes will be given

     

     

 

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

SENI KHAT

Seni Khat (Jawi Calligraphy) is a programme whereby students get to learn the basic learning of writing khat. 

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will be getting to bring back a small canvas pouch after designing their names on it.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation of Seni Khat

  • History of Seni Khat Calligraphy

  • Hands-on practice of writing Jawi on Canvas Pouch/Ready-made Kite/Plate

  • Notes will be given

     

     

 

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

Venue: Classroom

BATIK PAINTING

Batik Painting is a programme whereby students get to learn the proper skill of doing canting and colouring their Batik Frame.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students are able to understand the history of Batik Painting and the proper way of doing Batik Painting. Students will be getting to bring back their product(batik frame).

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and history of Batik Painting

  • Canting (wax) activity to be done by students

  • Gives an opportunity for the students to be more creative in designing their own batik frame

     

     

     

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

Venue: Art Room/Canteen/Classroom

BATIK WAU PAINTING

Batik Wau Painting is a 2-in-1 programme whereby students get to learn the history of Wau and also Batik. Students will be taught the proper skill of doing colouring their Batik Wau Frame.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students are able to understand the history of Batik Painting and Wau. Students will be getting to bring back their product(Batik Wau frame).

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and history of Batik Painting & Wau

  • Student will be taught on painting techniques

  • Gives an opportunity for the students to be more creative in designing their own batik wau frame

BUNGA MANGGAR / BUNGA RAMPAI

Bunga Manggar/Bunga Rampai is a workshop whereby students get to learn the proper way of making Bunga Manggar and Bunga Rampai. 

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will get to learn the usefulness of these items for certain occasions and able to bring back the product home.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction & Explanation of Bunga Manggar/Bunga Rampai

  • Various of occasions that uses Bunga Manggar/Bunga Rampai

  • Each student will be doing their own Bunga Manggar/Bunga Rampai from scratch.

  • At the end of the workshop, the students will get to bring back the product.

     

Duration: 1.5 hours

Venue: Classroom

KETUPAT WEAVING

Ketupat Weaving is a workshop whereby students get to learn the proper way of weaving the ketupat using palm leaves or ribbons. 

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will get to learn the the different ocassions which ketupat is being served. 

 

*To learn the skill fully by end of the workshop depends on the student's ability.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction to Ketupat Weaving, the several types/ways of how Ketupat is weaved.

  • Practice hands-on of Ketupat Weaving

  • To understand better on which special events whereby Ketupat is being served.

  • To practice on weaving the ketupat with the help from our trainers.

 

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

Venue: Music Room/AVA Room/Classroom

KITE MAKING/WAU MAKING

Kite Making/Wau Making is a workshop whereby students get to learn the proper way of making a kite/wau and decorating it based on their creativity. 

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will get to bring their product home.

 

*Kite Making Activity is suitable for Primary 1 & 2.

*Wau Making Activity is suitable for P5, P6 and lower secondary students

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation of Kite Making/Wau Making

  • Hands-on activity on Kite Making/Wau Making

  • Colouring materials will be provided and need to be shared among groups of 4.

 

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

BUNGA PAHAR

Bunga Telur is a workshop whereby students get to learn the usage of Bunga Telur in Malay Culture. They will learn the steps on making Bunga Telur.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will get to understand better partly about Malay Culture involving Bunga Telur. Students will get to bring back the product home.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation about Bunga Telur.

  • Students will be given the materials to do the Bunga Telur.

  • Our trainer will be giving a demonstration on how it is made.

  • At the end of the workshop, the students will get to bring home the Bunga Telur.

     

 

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

Venue: Art Room/Classroom

TANJAK MAKING

Tanjak Making is a workshop whereby students get to learn the usage of Tanjak Making in Malay Culture. They will learn the steps on folding their own Tanjak.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will get to understand better partly about Malay Culture involving Tanjak. Students will get to bring back the product home.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation about Tanjak.

  • What occasion requires the male to wear Tanjak.

  • Demonstration on how to fold the Tanjak.

  • Each student will be getting 1 metre of designed cloth to make their own.

  • At the end of the activity, students can bring back their product.

 

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

SAMPUL RAYA/CARD RAYA MAKING

Sampul Raya/Card Raya is a workshop whereby students get to learn to make their own "green packets" or Hari Raya Cards from scratch. They will learn the steps on making them.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will get to understand better partly about Hari Raya involving green packets and Hari Raya Cards. Students will get to bring back the product home.

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation about Sampul Raya/Card Raya.

  • Demonstration on making them.

  • Materials will be provided by EDN.

  • At the end of the activity, students can bring back their product.

 

Duration: 1.5 hours

Venue: Art Room/Classroom

BOARD GAME MAKING

Board Game Making is a workshop whereby students get to learn to make their own Board Games from scratch. They will learn the steps on making them. Students can use their own creativity to make their board game more interesting.

 

OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, students will get to play their Board Games with their classmates after designing and colouring it. 

 

Activites includes:

  • Introduction and explanation about Board Games.

  • Demonstration on making them.

  • Materials will be provided by EDN.

  • At the end of the activity, students can bring back their product.

 

Duration: 1.5-2 hours
